A multifaceted musical education.

Students do not learn music via one method.  While there are several different piano method books available for students to learn from, a proficient pianist knows to play using their ears as well as their eyes.  Piano students learn about the instrument, music theory, sight-reading, proper technique for producing a good piano sound ("touch",) and also learn how to play by ear through ear-training exercises.

While the ability to sight-read is important, ear-training is a commonly neglected ingredient in the field of piano education that teaches both piano enjoyment as well as being a part of music theory application.  Being able to play what you hear is an integral part of becoming a good performer, in addition to being a wonderful confidence-booster for a young student!
